Fredrik Barth

Anthropologue norvégien, formé aux Universités de Chicago et de Cambridge. Il a mené des rechercher de terrain au Kurdistan irakien, au Pakistan (Swat), en Iran, en Nouvelle-Guinée, à Bali, à Oman, au Soudan (Darfour), ainsi qu’en Norvège. Particulièrement influente dans le monde anglo-saxon, son œuvre est encore relativement méconnue en France. Ses contributions touchent divers domaines : théorie de l’ethnicité, rituels et religion, anthropologie économique et politique, etc.
