Luminiţa-Anda Mandache est anthropologue. Elle travaille sur les cultures politiques en transition. Elle a obtenu un MA en anthropologie de l’Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgique) et un doctorat en anthropologie à l’Université de l’Arizona (Etats Unis). Elle est actuellement chercheuse invitée à l’Université de l’Arizona et professeure adjointe au Pima Community College, où elle enseigne l’anthropologie et la sociologie. Ses domaines d’intérêt incluent la polarisation politique, les cultures politiques, les mouvements sociaux et l’activisme, la pauvreté urbaine et la violence urbaine, avec un accent sur l’Amérique latine (Brésil principalement). Les résultats de ses recherches ont notamment été publiés dans les revues Ethnography et Latin American Perspectives. Actuellement, Luminiţa-Anda Mandache travaille sur un projet de livre qui explore l’émergence d’une polarisation politique à partir des années 2000 au Brésil, en examinant les fractures des communautés urbaines et celles au sein du mouvement militant progressiste qui s’est construit
en marge du mouvement de Fortaleza.
